Chiropractic
Treatment
The first thing our
doctor will do is find out what is bothering you. Your past medical history, chiropractic history, previous
treatments, examinations, diagnostic test results and lifestyle
will all be thoroughly discussed. If your case involves an automobile
accident, workman's compensation, or trauma, we will help you with the appropriate
questionnaires and forms.
Your examination may include testing your range of motion,
muscle strength, sensory evaluation, standard orthopedic and
neurologic signs, and maneuvers. It may also include a palpation of the affected
area and a full systems review. If your doctor requests
additional tests, we will thoroughly discuss the tests with you before performing them.
Once the testing
and examinations are concluded, a diagnosis will be made and
a course of treatment outlined to you, which may include manipulations or adjustments on your spine or other joints. An adjustment
or manipulation is defined as a specific treatment applied to
a vertebrae or joint that has abnormal movement patterns or
fails to function normally. Soft tissue
manipulations or treatments by hand can also be applied to
muscles that are failing to function properly. The manipulation
procedure usually does not hurt, but there may be a minor amount
of discomfort for a few seconds. The procedure is
extremely safe and the risk is estimated to be less than 1 in 1,000,000.
