Who is a candidate for the DRX?

Pain from herniated and bulging cervical or lumbar discs, recurrent pain from a failed neck or back surgery, persistent pain from degenerated discs not responding to four weeks of therapy, pain from capsulitis of vertebral joints, muscle spasm pain due to nerve root compression, history of whiplash injuries.

Who is NOT a candidate for DRX?

Can the DRX be used for patients that have had prior neck and/or back surgery?

Pregnancy, metatastic cancer, severe osteoporosis, recent compression fracture, disc space infections, unstable spines, prior fusion less than 12 months old, vascular problems of carotid or vertebral arteries, congenital malformation.

Yes if not involving metallic cage implant, Harrington rods or fusion less than 1 year old

How long does it take to see results

How long to complete treatment

Each patient responds at own rate, the things that slow down progress are: smoking, obesity, chronic use of narcotics or steroids, excessive scar tissue formation due to surgery or auto accidents, inadequate rest during first two weeks of therapy, failing to follow treatment protocol.

The course of treatment is 20 treatment sessions over a two to three month period depending on condition. The average treatment in the office each visit is 90 minutes.

Is there any risks?

How does the DRX differ from other traction devices

The treatment is painless and totally comfortable. It would be immediately discontinued if the patient experienced any discomfort whatsoever.
